FedEx Web Services Deprecation before May 2024

Learn about what actions you need to do to avoid disruptions with your connection with FedEx

FedEx Web Services will be retired on May 15, 2024. These SOAP-based services will be replaced with FedEx's REST API.

Pavo is affected by this change and has been updated to use the FedEx REST API.

In order to continue using FedEx with OMS and Pavo, you will need to re-authenticate your FedEx account with Pavo.

If you do not take action before May 15, 2024, your FedEx connection will be interrupted.

How do I know if my company is affected?

  • If your account was authenticated with Pavo after March 1, 2024, you are using the new FedEx REST API and will not need to take action.
  • On the Pavo Admin portal, go to Settings > Integrations > Shipping and check your FedEx account. If your account has not authenticated with the new methods, Pavo will notify you to take action.

How do I use the new FedEx Connection?

You will need to remove the existing FedEx connection on Pavo, and add a new FedEx connection. Pavo will use the new authentication flow when authenticating a new FedEx account.

If your company uses Pavo to fetch labels in OMS, there is no action needed on OMS after these steps are complete.

What changed between FedEx connections?

FedEx Web Services is a SOAP-based connection developed at a time before REST APIs were prevalent. As more developers preferred REST APIs and it became the leading industry standard, these APIs allow for more flexibility and future proof FedEx's API.

As part of this change, FedEx has also revamped their developer portal to become more self-service.
